The Trailer

My Reaction

Factorio is the kind of game where you sit down for a few minutes and look up hours later. There’s always one more belt to lay down or one more line to optimize.

Overview

Factorio is a factory simulation game developed and published by the Czech studio Wube Software. You play as an engineer who crash lands on an alien planet and has to gather resources and build up an automated industry, with the goal of launching a rocket. Launching it doesn’t end the game, so you can keep expanding your factory as long as you like. It can be played solo or in multiplayer and it also includes eight extra scenarios.

What I Liked

  • Watching a messy start grow into a huge, efficient factory is incredibly satisfying.
  • There’s always something to improve, so it never feels finished.
  • Multiplayer lets you build a factory together with friends.

Verdict

Factorio is a deep, addictive game that rewards planning and problem solving. If you enjoy building and optimizing, it’s hard to put down.
