The Trailer
My Reaction
Heroes of Might and Magic is a solid start to a long-running series. The mix of exploring the map and fighting turn-based battles is easy to get into, even if it shows its age next to the sequels.
Overview
Heroes of Might and Magic is a turn-based fantasy strategy game developed by New World Computing. You lead heroes across an adventure map, capturing towns and mines, gathering resources and recruiting armies. When armies meet, the game switches to a tactical battle screen where units take turns attacking. It launched the Heroes of Might and Magic series.
What I Liked
- Exploring the map and grabbing resources is satisfying.
- The turn-based battles are simple to learn but still need some thought.
- Building up towns and armies gives a good sense of progress.
What I Didn’t Like
- It feels dated compared to the later games in the series.
Verdict
Heroes of Might and Magic laid the groundwork for a classic strategy series. It’s worth a look for fans of the genre, but the sequels improved on it.
