The Trailer

My Reaction

Between Warcraft, Diablo and StarCraft, Blizzard gave us a run of games so remarkable that it truly felt like a glorious era for PC gaming, one that few studios have ever matched.

Overview

Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos is a real-time strategy game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. It expanded the series to four playable races: the Humans, Orcs, Night Elves and Undead. Each army is led by hero units that level up and learn new abilities, adding a role-playing layer to the classic gather, build and fight formula. The campaign follows the fall of Prince Arthas and the arrival of the Burning Legion.

What I Liked

  • Four distinct races give every match a different feel.
  • Heroes that level up add a layer of strategy beyond building the biggest army.
  • The campaign tells one of the best stories in the Warcraft series.
  • The map editor and custom games kept the community playing for years.

Verdict

Warcraft III took everything that made its predecessors great and pushed it further. It’s a high point of Blizzard’s golden era and a strategy classic that still holds up.
