Why I Reacted To This Song
This came out at the height of the disco era and it was stunning; it still is.

About This Song
“I Feel Love” was released in 1977 on Donna Summer’s album I Remember Yesterday. It was written by Summer with producers Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte. Its pulsing backing track was built almost entirely on a Moog synthesizer, which was a bold move at the time and pointed the way toward electronic dance music.
First Impressions
The hypnotic synth pulse kicks in right away and Donna’s airy vocals float over the top of it.
My Reaction
“I Feel Love” sounded like the future in 1977 and it still sounds fresh today. The driving synths and Donna’s dreamy voice create something hypnotic that never lets up. It’s easy to hear why so much dance music that followed owes it a debt.
